Fishing in Sarasota Sometimes High and Dry

Even when you find that your boat is High and Dry you can just jump out and start surf fishing. You never know when you are going to land on a sand bar or even the beach; as in the picture above taken on Casey Key last week.

There are many reasons to relocate to Sarasota, but if you love to fish, the list just got a whole lot longer. Sarasota and her barrier islands are a fantastic area for fishing all year round.

Deep sea fishing off your own boat or a charter can bring in some great saltwater catches: Grouper, Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, or Amberjack. The shallow grass flats and docks are great for Trout, Redfish, and Snook. Beach, or “surf fishing”, is excellent for reeling in some Pompano, Sheepshead, or whiting, while the Venice Fishing Pier is a popular spot for hooking in many types of shark.

Freshwater fishing is a relaxing way to spend the day. Take a canoe or kayak into one of the many lakes, rivers, and creeks of Sarasota County for Largemouth Bass, Striped Mullet, Bluegill, and Perch.
